Biblical Series I: Introduction to the Idea of God

Lecture I in my Psychological Significance of the Biblical Stories series from May 16th at Isabel Bader Theatre in Toronto. In this lecture, I describe what I consider to be the idea of God, which is at least partly the notion of sovereignty and power, divorced from any concrete sovereign or particular, individual person of power. I also suggest that God, as Father, is something akin to the spirit or pattern inherent in the human hierarchy of authority, which is based in turn on the dominance hierarchies characterizing animals.

  1. Thank you Mr. Peterson, your insight have given me so much more to reflect and act on, my life was really stagnated until l started watching your interviews, videos, and seeing you on various podcasts. Thank you so much…you really have influenced my life a great deal.

  2. I'm hoping that someone out there who has watched these excellent and engaging lectures is also familiar with the books of Avivah Gottlieb Zornberg. In her books, Dr. Zornberg analyses the Bible in light of modern psychoanalysis, literature, philosophy, and Jewish midrash. I'm in the process of both watching Dr. Peterson's lectures on the Bible and reading Dr. Zornberg's amazing books on the same…and I'm certainly wondering whether Dr. Peterson has read the latter. Due to the uniqueness of both the lectures and the books, as well as their overlapping content, I'd certainly be surprised if he hasn't read them…and I wonder if he has given credit where credit is due. We shall see…

  3. The Bible itself is a history and not of christian consciousness. Christianity isn't even mentioned in the Bible. The Israelites were merely called that by other nations. The Bible in itself without beating around the bush is a record of the so called blacks. As it was written, it is an historic breakdown of creation through the word of The Most High that was recorded the real Hebrews and latter through Israelites as named after Jacob. The Bible is the prophecy of the genealogy of the so called blacks(Judah) who in the ladder days would loose there identity along with the so called indians(Gad), the so called Mexicans(Ephraim), the so called Haitians( who are the Levitical priest, along with the other tribe members who make up the 12 tribes and are the lost sheep of today. This is our record that dates back before slavery here in the US and other countries. The identity has been stolen threw people claiming to be Jews of the Bible and are not. These impostors have taken on the identity in an effort to keep the real people from remembrance and alter the prophecy to come.

  4. A man becoming a monkey is far fetched and even further a comparison of the Bible to the Internet! One is a program and the other is prophecy. A HUGE and even astronomical difference.

  5. I prefer watching these videos as opposed to “JBP DESTROYS TALK SHOW HOST”. Not that there aren’t good lessons. Some of those things are just click bait for people who aren’t really interested in understanding in my opinion. These are the videos of substance.

For a long time I’ve always rattled the idea in my head that, even though you might not believe in a god or an afterlife, there is some value in the messages they teach. I often went to church with my mother because it made her happy and going with her was just something small I could do to make her week better and that was more valuable then an extra hour of sleep to me. Even though I wouldn’t have gone if it wasn’t for her I often found myself entranced in the message and applying those in a practical fashion to my life . I got a lot out of it and found it very odd that people just disregarded these messages as “bullshit”. It’s cool that people are ok with diving into this stuff.

  6. This is my second time starting the bib series. And all this talk about dreams and stuff and how its all very complex but how how there is an underlying structure is completing something for me.
10 days ago, i had a dream, that had a few series(or settings in the dream) to it (in one night). There were about 6 different settings within the dream and the last section of the dream was a very weird one to end on.
(scene 6/6) There was some sort of outdoor event at night that involved spectating the sky. Then, the entire night sky lit up from the cosmos, something surreal, then a "shooting star" started to fall towards the city (which it was across the way) and when the "star" made impact, it released what look like a fallout of a nuclear blast. (or for all you Flash fans, Dark matter from the particle accelerator explosion). I died/woke up while being consumed from the blast wave.
It's weird for me to even remember my dreams as i don't remember any of them ever. but the fact that i could remember 5 out of the 6 in that night was mind-boggling to me.

Anyway, I'm just ranting. No one is gonna read this anyway lol.

  7. Isnt it strange that the concept of "a god", existed 1000s of years before the one real god revealed himself to Moses.

    There are no real gods
There are only those that believe gods are real.

  8. Peterson’s ideology is simply a mixture of William James’ Pragmatism, infected by the neurosis of Dostoyevsky, the bitterness of Solzhenitsyn, the greed and selfishness of Ayn Rand, and the inversion of Nietzsche’s philosophy, all passed through the prism of Jungian psychology directed at Bible stories. God exists, but god is mathematical and Divine. Nietzsche despised religion. Jung knew god through his experience, he glimpsed the true self, beyond the ego consciousness. Fuck any religion.

  9. please say Jesus Christ is your lord and savior, how can u take a theory and make it fact, I love listening to you and working out my own demons but its hard when you follow theory's instead of facts, For God So Loved The World That He Gave His Only Begotten Son That Whosoever Believeth In Him Should Not Perish, But Have Everlasting Life, love you

  10. Dr. Peterson Moses is not mythological. Adam and Eve are not mythological. The Bible is not just a book of stories. The Bible is The Word of God. God is the Author, though there are many writers.

  11. Here's a comment from one of the key players in the decision to revoke Jordan Peterson’s Cambridge University fellowship. Dr Priyamvada Gopal, Churchill College, a supervisor in Colonial and Postcolonial Literatures, South Asian Literature, British Asian and Black British Writing, Empire and Decolonization, or Communist anti-white European studies.

Anyway, he's a theologian too now, eh? The man is totes Renaissance.

    Priyamvada Gopal @PriyamvadaGopal

The truth is Cambridge just doesn't have enough sage authoritative white men who believe they know better than everyone else and can tell the world how to run itself. We need to ship them in from outside.

So, she's an anti-white racist, misandric Marxist/Postmodernist and we all need to call her bigoted arse out.
